The Sinclair is the reimagined Energy Plaza office tower in downtown Dallas, transformed by a $300 million renovation into luxury apartments and offices. Owner Shawn Todd wanted a signature water feature at the building’s entrance, inspired by London’s Hotel Connaught. OTL designed and built a 26-foot fountain to set the tone for the property’s new entrance.
PROJECT
CHALLENGE
Todd wanted the fountain to capture the Hotel Connaught’s character while adapting it into a circular basin with one specimen tree. The feature also had to be built above the parking structure at street level, requiring careful coordination of its troughs and surge tank. Getting the fiber optic lighting beneath the glass blocks to read correctly took multiple rounds of testing.

SOLUTION
OTL traveled to London with landscape architect SWA to study the Hotel Connaught firsthand before adapting it. The team used computer models to plan the troughs and surge tank above the parking structure. OTL then frosted 714 glass blocks in concentric rings and adjusted lighting until the intended patterns appeared correctly.
PROJECT
IMPACT
The completed fountain, wrapped in mist around a magnolia tree, gives residents and guests a dazzling first impression. It now anchors The Sinclair’s transformation into one of downtown Dallas’s most posh new addresses.
