Pala Casino Spa Resort is a popular Southern California gaming and hospitality destination near San Diego. When OTL was brought in, the hotel’s 20-plus-year-old lobby fountain needed a transformation to match the property’s world-class reputation. OTL rebuilt the fountain to create a striking first impression for guests.

CHALLENGE
The Pala Band of Mission Indians wanted the renovated fountain to feel opulent, featuring six 20-foot rain chains and four natural boulders with water flowing down their surfaces. OTL was limited to the fountain’s existing structure, including ceiling piping, and had to work in a public space without disturbing guests. Distributing water evenly to the new rain chain assemblies presented an additional engineering challenge.

SOLUTION
OTL scheduled work during modified hours to avoid disrupting guests with noise in the public lobby. To solve the rain chain distribution issue, OTL reworked the hanging assembly to deliver water directly into each chain. The result reimagined the amenity within the existing structure while achieving the opulent feel the owner envisioned.
Pala Casino Spa Resort’s rebuilt lobby fountain now captivates guests as soon as they enter the hotel. Its lighted, colorful rain chains and realistic rockwork evoke a magical rain forest, calming and readying visitors for their stay.
