Having built Phase I’s Majestic eagle fountain, OTL returned to Mountain View Village to design and engineer a second, more ambitious water feature for Phase II: a show fountain equipped with OTL’s own patented Aquarius Interactive® AI technology. Guests can now direct the fountain’s movements simply by moving their hands or body, no wands or devices required.
PROJECT
CHALLENGE
The fountain’s curved infinity edge and front-facing waterfall called for natural stone matching the design vision within budget, a combination that took extensive searching to find. Later budget cuts forced the team to reduce planned pumps without sacrificing the nozzle count the show’s choreography required.
OTL’S
SOLUTION
OTL sourced matching stone from a local supplier it had partnered with on previous jobs, keeping the material authentic and sustainably close to home. To offset the pump reduction, OTL engineered a custom manifold that combines several nozzles into one display instead of controlling each individually, preserving the show’s full impact at lower cost. Cameras positioned around the curved fountain, paired with server equipment in an adjacent basement room, give the Aquarius Interactive® system full coverage and seamless control.
Mountain View Village’s Phase II fountain is now the third water feature in the nation to run on Aquarius Interactive® technology, drawing visitors from hundreds of miles away and giving stakeholders valuable foot-traffic data as a bonus.
