Branson Boardwalk draws more than nine million visitors a year to its mix of dining, shops and world-class attractions, anchored by a 55-foot sculptural octopus from Demiurge Design, glowing with color-changing light. OTL was brought on for Phase 2 to deliver the property’s next showstopper: a synchronized fountain set in a cascading lake beside the aquarium.
Together, sculpture and water now define the Boardwalk’s most photographed corner.

CHALLENGE
Stakeholders envisioned this fountain as the property’s show-stopping anchor, built without slowing the tourist season that keeps millions coming through the gates. OTL had to work around active aquarium operations, tight pedestrian corridors and a packed off-season construction window, all while keeping guests safe just steps from the job site.
A temporary pond built for the aquarium’s opening also had to come out before construction could even begin.

SOLUTION
OTL routed conduit to avoid trenching beneath sidewalks and staged temporary fencing to keep traffic and foot flow moving.
Long-lead equipment was ordered early to hit a tight build schedule, and the fountain was choreographed to synchronize water, light and fog with music for guests of every age.
The team also linked the octopus sculpture’s lighting controller directly into the fountain’s show system, turning the sculpture itself into a performer.
Two choreographed shows play every half hour from morning through late evening, filling the plaza with dancing water, light and fog. Paired with its towering, glowing octopus companion, the fountain has become Branson Boardwalk’s signature attraction, drawing guests back again and again.
