Long Beach, California is home to 2nd & PCH, an 11-acre coastal retail and dining destination from CenterCal Properties. Its centerpiece fountain, designed and built by OTL, is wrapped in custom glass mosaic tile and crowned by a sculpture from artist Ivan McLean.
The feature has since become the property’s visual signature, capturing the spirit of its coastal setting.
PROJECT
CHALLENGE
A decorative fountain alone would not be enough for this project’s stakeholders. The property called for a focal point that felt both artistic and functional, anchoring an 11-acre destination still taking shape.
Meeting that vision meant holding up to heavy public interaction without compromising the quiet, polished experience ownership envisioned.
OTL’S
SOLUTION
OTL delivered a 22-foot-diameter fountain at the property’s heart, clad in mosaic tile and topped by its sculptural centerpiece.
Our team sequenced plumbing ahead of the final design to keep the foundation schedule on track. A custom bowl edge also quieted the water’s overflow, keeping the fountain’s surface smooth and its sound serene.
The fountain now anchors 2nd & PCH, its mosaic tile and sculpture glowing under soft uplighting after dark.
It has become a true gathering point in the district, giving guests a reason to pause, connect, and enjoy the seaside environment year round.
