Standing over 11 stories tall, the 100-foot Pegasus Statue at Gulfstream Park battles a dragon nightly in a monumental show fountain. Built of 330 tons of steel and 132 tons of bronze, Pegasus is the second-tallest statue in the mainland United States. OTL served as design-build contractor for this water, fire and light spectacle.

CHALLENGE
Gulfstream Park wanted a one-of-a-kind nighttime spectacle, with Pegasus battling the tallest dragon statue ever built, set to a 13-piece score. The show called for hundreds of fog and water nozzles and a dragon capable of spewing 20-foot flames. Bringing these elements together into one seamless performance demanded precision across disciplines.

SOLUTION
OTL worked with a general contractor and the owner to engineer the full show fountain system. The scope covered MEP, audio, lighting and pyrotechnics, moving over 210,000 gallons of water through 116 water and 350 fog nozzles. OTL also programmed the sequencing that synchronizes Pegasus and the dragon’s nightly battle with music and light.
The completed Pegasus Statue is now one of South Florida’s most recognizable landmarks, drawing visitors to Gulfstream Park for its nightly water, fire and light show. As the first fountain of its kind, it set a new benchmark for large-scale entertainment experiences.
