OTL Begins Design and Construction of “Crown Jewel” Show Fountain at 172-Acre Park in Grand Prairie, Texas

In the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, in the city of Grand Prairie, Texas, sits a new 172-acre park called EpicCentral. At this unique tourist destination, which will feature intriguing landscaping, a stage for concerts and events, immersive lighting effects, and interactive art pieces, OTL has begun the design and construction of a dynamic show fountain that is already being hailed as the park’s “crown jewel.”
Slated for completion in Fall 2022, the $3.5 million water feature will be installed within one of the park’s existing lakes and matches the new development’s central theme of “making memorable experiences through iconic attractions.” The show fountain will serve as EpicCentral’s enchanting centerpiece, featuring thrilling air-fired jets, robotic nozzles reaching heights of over 60 feet, large-scale projection and specialty lighting effects and music to add to visitors’ experience of the project, helping to draw more visitors to the area.
OTL is working with Merriman Anderson Architects, Inc., the architect on the project, as well as landscape architect Studio Outside to deliver an exceptional show fountain that will grow along with EpicCentral itself. The City of Grand Prairie’s goal is to create an iconic water feature for the new destination, with the ability to extend the show fountain further into the lake to align with potential future development. The fountain is being designed in modular fashion so that it can be expanded as the destination evolves.
Grand Prairie is a tourism powerhouse attracting up to 7 million visitors a year to its events, attractions, and venues. The City’s new EpicCentral project is another key part of its tourism and local community amenities. By installing this project and spectacular show fountain as part of its EpicCentral expansion, the City of Grand Prairie is investing in a unique entertainment destination that adds to a quality of life everyone will enjoy.
EpicCentral is home to Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark; The Summit recreation center for adults ages 50+; The Epic, a 120,000-square-foot fitness, arts, and entertainment facility; PlayGrand Adventures, an all-inclusive playground; Central Bark dog park; Chicken N Pickle restaurant and indoor/outdoor pickleball venue; and Grand Prairie Public Safety Building. Attractions currently under construction include two hotels with a connecting convention center, six restaurants, and an indoor adventure park. Other amenities at EpicCentral include five lakes, a grand lawn, boardwalk, and space zoned for future retail opportunities.
