The Illuvia show fountain, a magnificent water feature designed and constructed by OTL, presented its first light and water show on June 23 at EpicCentral, a 172-acre park located in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in Grand Prairie, Texas. The spectacular fountain, built in a modular fashion to allow it to grow along with the expanding park, provides breathtaking programming for guests of all ages.
The Dallas Morning News and D Magazine each featured Illuvia’s debut in articles that described the multiple daily and nightly displays as “Vegas-style.” Large-scale projection and specialty lighting effects, along with music, are incorporated into the fountain, which features thrilling air-fired jets and robotic nozzles that propel water to heights of over 60 feet, creating a statement that is visible from all around. A never-before-seen interactive technology element, patented by OTL, is being incorporated into the water feature and will be revealed shortly.
John Cunningham, OTL’s Vice President of Operations, was on hand at Illuvia’s inaugural event. After being introduced by Zane King, Creative Producer for the City of Grand Prairie, John addressed Zane and the attendees as follows: “On behalf of OTL, I would like to thank the City of Grand Prairie, and particularly you and also Andy Henning [Director of Design + Construction – Municipal Facilities, City of Grand Prairie, Planning and Development], and your teams, for giving us this opportunity, and for taking such good care of us. This is an incredible project with the latest technology, and it has involved our entire team through the process, beginning with design and continuing all the way through construction. We are very happy to be partnering with the City, and we look forward to doing more great things together!”
According to King, Illuvia draws crowds of as many as 1,200 people to EpicCentral’s GrandLawn to watch mesmerizing 15-minute shows, with average foot traffic of between 700 and 800 guests on Saturday evenings.
