Devin Schumacher

Director of Operational Excellence

Devin Schumacher brings a builder’s perspective to Operational Excellence, combining firsthand field experience with a natural drive to understand what works, what does not, and how to make it better.

His experience spans water feature and pool construction, commercial building, land development, and field operations, giving him a perspective shaped by both planning the work and actually executing it. That background has taught Devin that meaningful improvement rarely begins with a new process or system. It begins by understanding the people doing the work, the challenges they encounter, and what will genuinely help them perform better.

As OTL’s Director of Operational Excellence, Devin turns those lessons into improvements across the organization. He works to strengthen the systems, processes, quality standards, technology, performance measures, workforce development, and maintenance operations that support OTL’s teams. His focus is not change for the sake of change, but finding practical ways to make OTL more consistent, effective, and capable as the complexity of its work continues to grow.

A Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Devin combines formal process-improvement discipline with practical construction and field leadership experience. It is a combination that keeps his approach grounded: innovation should solve a real problem, systems should support the people using them, and lessons learned should lead to something better the next time.

Away from OTL, Devin’s greatest priority is his family. He values time with his wife and kids and being present for the everyday moments that can be easy to miss when life gets busy.

For Devin, Operational Excellence is ultimately a commitment to learning. Understand what happened, get to the root of why it happened, and use that knowledge to make the people, processes, and projects that follow stronger.
