Posted in Insights -
Since 2020, in our newsletter and throughout our social media platforms, we have been spotlighting team members who are key to the success of our company.
While OTL is known throughout the USA and internationally for designing and building magnificent water features, rockwork and themed environments, our company’s true foundation is our people. OTL simply would not be the same without our incredibly talented, dedicated, and caring team.
This month’s Team Spotlight is devoted to Melissa Silva, our Corporate Administrative Coordinator. Melissa joined OTL in May 2024 and was hired to support and assist the administrative team in a variety of ways. Reporting directly to Sarah Shores, our VP Administration, Melissa blends marketing coordination, accounting responsibilities, and administrative support tasks in her role, including safety tracking and HR administrative responsibilities. In just the short time she has been on our team, Mel has proven herself to be an organizational dynamo and a huge asset to our company. We’re so fortunate to have her aboard and look forward to watching her grow with us.
We spoke with Mel about what attracted her to OTL and her goals and aspirations for the future.
What attracted you to OTL?
Sarah’s glowing endorsement of OTL and her firsthand experience over the past decade influenced my decision. Hearing her speak passionately about the company’s positive impact and seeing the meaningful work they do inspired me to consider OTL as a place where I could contribute and grow professionally. Her long-term commitment and enthusiasm are a testament to OTL’s culture and values, which made me eager to become a part of their team and contribute to their mission.
What is the best part about being on the OTL team?
One of the most enriching aspects of being part of the OTL team is the outstanding camaraderie among my colleagues. The support and assistance I receive from them are invaluable, especially as I transition from a restaurant background to the construction industry. Furthermore, I am continually inspired by the remarkable projects OTL undertakes. Contributing to initiatives like OTL’s captivating fountains, which bring joy and delight to those who encounter them, is incredibly fulfilling. It’s a privilege to be part of a company that creates such positive and memorable experiences for people.
What is a fun fact about you that readers may not know?
A lesser-known fact about me is that Sarah is my sister, and Joshua is my son here at OTL. In addition to being a proud mother of four wonderful children, I’ve also experienced the thrill of skydiving. I have a deep passion for adventure, whether it’s exploring the great outdoors, traveling to new and unfamiliar destinations, or enthusiastically embracing new experiences whenever they come my way.
What are you excited about accomplishing with OTL?
In joining the OTL team, my objective is to provide valuable assistance wherever possible. I aim to develop efficient systems that alleviate the workload Sarah and others may carry, thereby enhancing operational efficiency. Additionally, I am eager to embrace new learning opportunities within OTL, expanding my skills and contributing to the team’s overall success.
