Mountain View Village, Phase I
Riverton, Utah
Majestic eagle fountain featuring bronze architectural sculpture serves as impressive centerpiece for lifestyle destination in Riverton, Utah
One of the top shopping destinations in Riverton, Utah, a suburb on the southern end of Salt Lake City, is Mountain View Village, an 85-acre lifestyle development owned and developed by CenterCal Properties, LLC.
The center is being constructed in phases, with the completed Phase I featuring a bevy of daily-needs retail tenants including a Harmons Grocery store, several national big-box retailers, and fast-casual dining options.
In July 2018, OTL delivered a stunning eagle fountain for Mountain View Village that serves as a central gathering spot for Phase I of the retail destination. The water feature is as rich with local heritage and patriotic appreciation as it is with innovative design, thoughtful construction, and artistic beauty.
Idea
OTL was tasked with delivering a water feature that pays homage to the men and women serving in Riverton’s fire department, police department, and local National Guard while functioning as an impressive centerpiece for the plaza of Mountain View Village, Phase I.
At the crux of the fountain stands a magnificent 13-foot bronze American eagle sculpture conceived by Fred Bruning, chairman and founder of CenterCal, and artist Brian Keith, who has earned nationwide recognition for his bronze works of art. The eagle, titled “Majestic,” is a tribute to public safety and has received many accolades and much positive attention since its installation.
OTL worked with Keith and CenterCal to incorporate the statue into an eagle fountain that celebrates first responders’ selfless devotion to community health and safety while extolling the virtues of our national bird and the beauty of nature itself. The combination of the statue, the flowing water, and OTL’s outstanding design and construction support this tireless commitment and represents the community’s ongoing appreciation to public servants who have risked and sacrificed their lives for others in the name of duty.
Impact
The spectacular water feature attracts residents and visitors from miles around, who are drawn to the exquisitely designed eagle sculpture as well as the sights and sounds of water flowing through the piece. It also foretells of more splendor to come.
Phases II and III of Mountain View Village, which broke ground in August 2019, will include new entertainment, restaurants, a movie theater, and roughly 90 additional retail tenants, as well as several lush parks and parklets, more than 1,700 newly planted trees, and 10,000 plant species. In addition, the later phases will welcome best-in-class residential and office space and a 440-unit luxury residential apartment complex with a rooftop pool and fitness area overlooking the Oquirrh and Wasatch mountain ranges.
To complement Phase II of the development, OTL has embarked on design and construction of a second water feature, which will utilize a new approach with state-of-the-art technology to produce a spectacular choreographic water and light show. Stay tuned for an update on this project.
